1,208,603. Drying and ventilating grain. BEDFORD SHEET METAL CO. Ltd. 30 Aug., 1968 [30 May, 1967; 2 Dec., 1967], Nos. 54944/67 and 41495/68. Divided out of 1,208,602. Heading A2Q. [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] A building in which particulate material (e.g. grain) is dried or ventilated and from which it is subsequently discharged by passing air through louvred panels in the floor, comprises a floor having a first portion in which the louvres direct air in one direction towards a discharge outlet, and a second portion in which the louvres direct air towards the first portion and in a direction transverse to the one direction. In one embodiment, the building comprises a main air conduit 28 which extends through the building and can communicate with two adjacent parallel air conduits 66, which are made of a plurality of sections, and a plurality of lateral air conduits 13 which can communicate with the air conduits 66. The conduits 66 comprise louvred panels 46, the louvres of which direct air towards a discharge outlet (not shown). The conduits 13 comprise louvred panels 45 the louvres of which direct air towards the panels 46. In use air under superatmospheric pressure from conduit 28 is selectively supplied to each or any combination of sections of the conduits 66 and to each or any combination of conduits 13, there being flap valves between the conduit 28 and conduits 66 and between the conduits 66 and conduits 13. When material is to be discharged from the building, the outlet is opened and the material on the louvred panels 46 is conveyed by the air directly to the outlet and the material on the louvred panels 45 is conveyed over the louvred panels 46 and then to the outlet. The flat louvred panels 45 and 46 may be replaced by the louvred panels described in Specification 1,208,602, which latter panels comprise one or more V-sections, the side walls of which sections comprise louvres. The louvres in one side wall may direct the air in a direction substantially parallel, convergent or divergent to the direction of air from the louvres of the other side wall.
