Abstract

1,205,567. Roof tiles. REDLANDS TILES Ltd and D. F. MATTHEWS. 3 Oct., 1967 [4 Oct, 1966], No. 44204/66. Heading E1B. A concrete roof tile having corresponding upwardly and downwardly facing recesses 13 and 12 along its wide edges comprises a series of ribs 30-33 and recesses 25-29 on its rear face, the centre of the rib 32 being mid-way between the left hand edge of the tile and the inner edge of the recess 13 and the centre of rib 31 being mid-way between the right hand edge of the tile and the inner edge of recess 12. If the tile is cut through one of the 31, 32 the shape of the edge is the same as the shape of the edge produced by cutting of the recessed portion at the side edges of the tiles. Nibs 34 and 35 are provided on the underside near the upper edge to engage roof battens and projections 36 and 36a space the tile from the batten to allow air circulation. Ribs 19, 20, 21 are provided on the underside of the tail edge to overlap grooves which taper across the upper side near the upper edge. Ribs 21 and 20 have recesses 37 and 38 and rib 19 has notches 39 which allow a portion thereof to be broken away to receive the hooked end of a metal snow guard.
