A generally W-sectioned roofing tile which can be moved up or down with respect to a vertically adjacent tile has downwardly extending projections 15 at its upper edge and a downwardly extending rib 20 along its lower edge, which rib stops short of each side edge of the tile. A lateral rib 22 may be formed on the tile when it is to be used in a position vertically displaced with respect to the horizontally adjacent tile (c.f. Fig. 2, not shown).
