Abstract

1,208,608. Sheet roofing. COOKSON SHEET METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 2 Jan., 1969 [6 Oct., 1967], No. 45784/67. Heading E1W. A rail spacing unit (fig. 4) for roof decking comprises a first rail element 72' having a depending lip (similar to that shown on element 72) to engage a first locking edge (56 fig. 3) on the decking and a second rail element 74 channelled to receive an end of element 72' and having a depending lip 97 to engage a second locking ledge 62 on the decking, snap latching means 90, 98 being provided to secure the two elements together. The second element is channelled to receive also an end of a first rail element 72 of a similar adjacent rail spacing unit. The locking ledges are provided by means of intermediate ribs 22 (fig. 3) in a decking sheet 8 having also, adjacent opposite edges, a female and a male rib each of which can interlock with a male or female rib respectively of an adjacent decking sheet (fig. 2 not shown). Each intermediate rib provides a pair of decking ledges, one of the pair on one rib being used with one of a pair on another adjacent rib to secure one rail unit and provides attachment ledges for hanging fitments e.g. ceiling. Overlying roof sheets (10 fig. 1 not shown) having upstanding ribs are secured to the rail units by concealed fastening means (fig. 5 not shown) and insulating material 12 is disposed between the decking and these upper roofing sheets.
