Abstract
1,022,912. Roofing tiles. MARLEY TILE CO. Ltd. Jan. 11, 1965 [Feb. 11, 1964], No. 5719/64. Heading E1B. The upper concave surface 1 of a roof valley tile has its head provided with at least one transverse rib 6 on which the overlapping valley tile seats the rib preventing the capillary or wind-blown ingress of water. Preferably a second rib 5 runs across the end of the tile and along its two sides to trap any moisture penetrating past the rib 6. Longitudinal ribs 2, 3 provide at each side a water channel down the valley alongside the mortar bedding (Fig. 4, not shown). In a modification the transverse ribs are provided at the tail of a tile, or its lower convex surface.
