Abstract
1,205,515. Coating apparatus. P. VON ARX. 24 June, 1968 [28 June, 1967; 14 May, 1968], No. 29921/68. Heading B2L. [Also in Division F2] A device for painting the inside of a pipe has two sets of paint spreading brushes, &c. rotating in opposite directions, the whole device being guided by two sets of rollers, at least one set being at the front end. As shown in Fig. 6, the brushes, rollers or spatulas 20 are driven in opposite directions from an electric or compressed air motor 70 through gearing 30' shown in more detail in Fig. 4, not shown. The whole unit is carried by guide rollers 10, 10' and drawn by rope 511 behind a train of paint reservoir pressurised tanks from the leading tank of which paint flows through an outlet valve or to the pipe wall at predetermined rate (Fig. 7, not shown). The paint-applying devices may be withdrawn radially from the pipe surface by reversing the motor drive. As shown in Fig. 8a, the arms 230 are pivotted at 330 on a triangular element 331 which may rotate against an adjustable braking torque (See also Figs. 9 and 10, not shown). The driving element 332 is driven by the gearing and connected to the arm 230 by link 333 which serves to press the spatulas against the pipe surface when the drive is counterclockwise as shown, but to retract them when the drive is reversed (Fig. 8b, not shown). The train of tanks may be used to apply a twocomponent setting resin, Fig. 11. The components are carried in tanks 85 having compressed-air operated pistons 851, the outflow being regulated by hose clips 861. The components mix in feed funnel 862 and motordriven feed screw 863. The wagon also carries a light 865 and television camera 866. (For Figures see next page)
