Abstract

1,205,500. Photographic materials and processes. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Jan.26 1968 [Jan.27, 1967], No.4199/68. Heading G2C. A heat-developable, light-sensitive material comprising a support bearing a layer or layers containing (a) a light-insensitive and reducible organic silver salt, (b) an inorganic halide which forms a silver halide by reaction with (a) or a silver halide, (c) a reducing agent capable of being decomposed by ultraviolet radiation to lose its reducing property, the agent being a compound containing a group of formula:- wherein R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen, alkyl or acyl and n is 0 or 1, (d) a material capable of accelerating the decomposition of (c) on such irradiation and (e) an organic acid and a salt thereof or specified silver salts (a) are those of carboxylic acids, benztriazole, benzthiazole, phenyltriazole, mercapto tetrazole and tetrazaindene. Specified reducing agents (c) are ascorbic acid and its esters, furoin, benzoin, dihydroxy acetone, dehydroxynapthalenes and 4 -alkoxy -1 -naphthols. Specified accelerators (d) are (i) diketones such as diacetyl and benzil (ii) anthraquinones and fluorenone (iii) metal oxides (iv) cerium salts and (v) phthalein dyes, cyanine dyes and methylene blue, methyl violet, proflavise, phenosafranine and chrysoidine. On imagewise exposure to light and heating a negative image is obtained. A positive image is obtained by imagewise exposure to ultraviolet light, followed by uniform exposure to visible light and heating.
