Abstract
1,203,735. Measuring fluid-flow. GENERAL DESCALING CO. Ltd. Jan.10, 1969, No.1668/69. Addition to 1, 166, 850. Heading G1R. In a meter proving apparatus in which a sphere 19 is released into the entrance 2 of a prover loop 1 and is returned to the exit end 3 of the loop 1 where the sphere 19 is stopped by a member 16, on a sphere receiving cage 9 until such cage 9 is lifted, Fig.2 to receive the sphere 19, the cage 9 is provided with a valve element 14 which engages a valve seat 15 when the cage 9 is in the sphere launching position, Fig. 1. To remove the cage 9 from the inter-connecting section 7 the cage 9 is initially lifted to the sphere receiving position at the loop exit end 3 by a double acting pneumatic or hydraulic actuator 17 where the cage 9 is locked by a slip 22. The actuator 17 is again operated to lift the closure member 23 to a position in which the member 23 is locked by lugs 24 and the actuator 17 is operated to lift the cage 9 clear of the section 2 Figs.4 and 5 (not shown).
