A valve, in a vehicle-heating system, comprises an inlet 16, a main outlet 18, 21, and a by-pass outlet 15. The portion 18 of the main outlet is controlled by a tapered end 22 of an operating rod 23 and a disc 30, and is. disposed in a valve member 19 which is opened to allow flow through the outlet 21, when. the rod 23 is lifted sufficiently for an. element 32 to abut its lower face. The by-pass.15 is closed by the disc 30 when the rod 23 is moved upwards against the action of a spring 9 by a lever 28 disposed outside the valve and connected to a flexible cable.
