Abstract

1,125,653. Valves. LUCIFER S.A. 14 Feb., 1966 [3 March, 1965], No. 6419/66. Heading F2V. A floating valve member 13, 15 seats on a seat 16 and is engaged by an actuating member at a point eccentric to the axis of the seat so that it lifts with a tilting movement to facilitate opening against pressure from the inlet 2. The inlet passage is arranged to direct the fluid toward that part of the valve member which is first disengaged from the seat and in a direction substantially counter to the general direction of flow through the seat when the valve is open, so that opening is assisted. As shown, the valve is actuated by a solenoid of which the armature 7 houses the valve member in a space 12. The seat 16 is inclined so that a flange on the armature engages the valve member at one side. In another construction, Fig. 2 (not shown), the valve member is positioned on the side of the seat remote from the armature. An actuating pin (24) passes eccentrically through the seat.
