Abstract

1,203,661. Winding yarns. TEIJIN Ltd. 23 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967; 4 Aug., 1967; 25 Jan., 1968], No. 24730/68. Heading DID. Yarn winding apparatus comprises a bearing ring 6 about a non-rotary bobbin 12, a rotatable ring 5 mounted on ring 6 by an air bearing and carrying a guide 4 which lays the yarn on the bobbin and means to reciprocate the bobbin relative to the ring or vice versa. The apparatus is for winding packages of multifilament yarn so that when they are drawn off over end they will be twistless. As shown the yarn is forwarded at constant speed by rollers 17, 18, its tension is sensed at 19, 20 and as a consequence a motor 21 which drives the ring 5 via a belt 7 is regulated to keep the yarn tension constant. In Fig. 4, not shown, the rotatable ring is formed as the rotor of the driving motor. In Fig. 5, not shown, the rotatable ring is provided with slanting holes or vanes and driven by air jets.
