Abstract

803,590. Textile spinning machines. SAGEHOMME, E. M. July 11, 1955 [July 14, 1954; Nov. 12, 1954], No. 19989/55. Addition to 724,122. Classes 120(2) and 120(3). A spinning frame as described in parent Specification is provided with an indicator panel and two pointers movable over it at right angles to one another in such manner that the intersection of the pointers indicates on lines inscribed on the panel the twist imparted to the yarn at the settings of the frame represented by the pointer positions. A further panel may also be provided with pointers which, when related to inscribed curves, indicate suitable draft and package building conditions. The first panel 54 has pointers 56, 57 attached to bands 60, 63 that pass around pulleys 61, 66. Pulley 61 is connected by a flexible shaft 62 to the handwheel 45 by which the electric motor 20, and consequently the speed of the spindle 4, is controlled. Pulley 66 is connected to the handwheel 46 controlling the motor 24 and adjustment of either the pulley or the handwheel varies the motor speed with resulting changes in the speed of the delivery roller 2 and of take-up through the electronically controlled motor 21. Since spindle and take-up speeds affect twist, the panel 54, which may be of transparent material, may be inscribed with lines indicating twist values so that when, during the working of the frame, the spindle or production speeds are adjusted, the position of intersection of the pointers 56, 57 will indicate the amount of twist. Alternatively, by making the intersection of the pointers 56, 57 follow a desired twist line, adjustments to the frame may be made. The panel 55 has one of its pointers 58 connected to the handwheel 49 by which the speed of feed roller 2 is determined and by adjustment of which the draft can be varied, and the other pointer 59 is connected through the pulley 73 with the handwheel 51 by which the building traverse is controlled and the handwheel 53 that controls the building lift. The connection with handwheel 53 may be broken when necessary for independent adjustment of the building lift. By suitable positioning of the pointers 58, 59 desirable relationships are said to be possible between the count of the yarn and the pitch of the yarn laid on the package.
