Abstract
1,203,470. Elactromagnetic relays. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 19 Sept., 1967 [19 Sept., 1966], No. 42570/67. Heading H1N. A remanent relay has means in its magnetic circuit to limit the magnitude of the remanent flux to a level lower than the saturation value of the region of engagement between the movable end of the armature 22 and core 20. This provision gives the relay a lower remanent flux value and shorter release time than a conventional remanent relay wherein the limiting remanent flux level is determined by saturation of the region of engagement between the armature and core. The level of remanent flux is limited by a reduced cross-section saturating portion of the armature 22. As described a hole is provided in the armature to reduce its cross-section. The pressed-out dome 26 of the armature is of larger radius e.g. 2 to 5 inches, than prior art relays to ensure adequate flux conduction and holding. The contact arrangement is as described in Specification 731,486.
