Abstract

1338769 Transformers ELEKTROAPPABATEBAU F KNOBEL & CO ENNENDA 17 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 58667/71 Heading HIT A lamination layer, used to construct magnetic cores for electric induction devices, comprises two similar U-shaped sections, 11 and 12 (Fig. 1) and a central member 13, inserted between the yoke members 11c and 12c, forming an adjustable air gap, 16, between itself and the appropriate yoke as shown in, Fig. 1. The two sections, 11 and 12, may be stamped out from a strip of metal as shown in Fig. 1a, the central piece that remains providing the movable central leg, 13, or the sections may be stamped from a strip of metal as shown in Fig. 2a, and the central piece, 13, is then cut from an entirely separate strip of metal. The stamping out of the laminations is arranged such that the cross-sectional area of the central leg is twice that of the shell. The width of the laminations (yokes) can be reduced when the device is to be enclosed in a container of sheet iron which acts as part of the magnetic circuit.
