Abstract
1,202,100. Magnetic separators. BETHLEHEM STEEL CORP. 17 Oct., 1968 [18 Oct., 1967], No. 49222/68. Heading B2J. Magnetic particles are separated from a material by fluidizing the material and passing it into a conduit 11 together with a wash fluid such as water which passes through the annular conduit 12, the two streams passing a magnet 18 where the magnetic particles are drawn into the wash fluid stream, the remainder of the material passing out through a baffle 13. As shown the separating column is surrounded by magnet 18 and comprises a solid rod 7 mounted within the conduit 11 which conduit terminates above the magnet 3 with a tapered portion 10. The baffle 13 extends upwardly and terminates in the region of magnet 3.
