Abstract
Method for hydraulic separation and device for this purpose, in which the particulate material carried by a liquid is divided up in a centrifugal field that is created in a cylindrical, essentially vertical separation chamber 1 into a fine product composed of lighter particles, the said product being separated out at the centre of the centrifugal field, and a coarse product composed of heavier particles, which are separated out in the outer area of the centrifugal field and go down into a spiral flow, which follows the outer area of the field to the bottom end of the separation chamber. As the invention discloses, the coarse product is removed from the centrifugal field through an annular opening 3, formed at the bottom end of the separation chamber 1, this being assisted by the use of a separate flow of liquid, which is delivered tangentially in relation to the centrifugal field and runs tangentially to the opening. The coarse product may be removed together with the flow of liquid to a hydrocyclone 10, which separates out the coarse product, following which the liquid can be returned to the separation process in order to serve as liquid medium in the separation that occurs in the centrifugal field. <IMAGE>
