Abstract

119,939. British Thomson - Houston Co., and Wheat, H. C. Nov. 16, 1917. Lighting, systems of.-A device for illuminating a vertical notice board, signboard, &c. comprises one or more lamps arranged on the edge of the board &c. with their axes substantially in the plane of the board &c. and a reflector adapted to reflect light from the lamps on to the surface to be illuminated. Fig. 2 shows a holder b carrying two standard lamps and adjustably mounted on a notice board by means of butterfly nuts c, are. flector d being arranged so as to throw light on both sides of the board. An opaque or diffusing screen may be added to the edge of the. reflector to prevent the lamp from being seen when the board is in a lofty position. When illuminating one side only of the board, a semicylindrical reflector is arranged at the back of the lamp to throw the light on to the main reflector.
