Abstract

1,024,047. Illuminating devices; imitation solid fuel fires. H. FROST & CO. Ltd. Feb. 17, 1965 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 46134/63. Headings F4R and F4W. An illumination device for an electric fire comprises a red or orange lamp 3, flicking device 4 and a reflector 6, which reflects the flicking light on to a screen 5. The screen 5 is made of plastic having light diffusing surfaces formed thereon by abrading. The device is characterized in that imitation fuel 8 is placed behind the screen as well as imitation fuel 7 in front thereof, lessopaque areas in the screen being provided to allow viewing of the imitation fuel 8 therethrough. The resultant effect is of flames appearing to come from the fuel itself. The screen 5 may be plane or curved in any way and there may be more than one lamp and flicking device.
