Abstract
1,199,388. Mattresses. O. P. MOLT. 10 Dec., 1968 [12 Dec., 1967], No. 58535/68. Heading A4M. A spring core for a mattress comprises coil springs 3 connected in rows by helical interlacing wires (5) and disposed between upper and lower border frames 1, 2, and includes edge spring elements 6 extending inwardly of the core between adjacent springs 3, each element 6 being formed of spring wire and comprising a pair of divergent arms 7, 8 with bent ends 7a, 8a, secured by clips 12, 13 to the border frames 1, 2, the arms 7, 8 being integral with an interconnecting helix 9 with an axis parallel to the axis of the coil springs 3. In a modification, Fig. 7, the end of one arm 27 is bent into U-shape, one limb 28 of the U being secured to the lower frame 25 and the other limb 29 carrying a resilient plastics sleeve 30 acting as a stop which engages the frame 25 on compression of the core. In another embodiment, Fig 4. The upper arm 7 has an extension 15 clipped, as at 17 to a forwardly projecting frame part 21 secured, at 22 to the upper frame 1, and a rearwardly bent part 18, 19 clipped, at 20, to the upper frame 1.
