Abstract

566,743. Wire mattresses &c. KEEBLE, D. June 22, 1943, Nos. 10026 and 12561. [Class 52 (iv)] Upholstery springs A are held in assembled position by lengths C of two interengaging, flattened, overlapping helical coil springs, Fig. 6, secured at J to the top and/or bottom coil of each upholstery spring. The flattened spring length C around the top outer edge of the assembly, prevents undue distortion and permanent set of the outer springs when loaded at the edge. The flattened spring strips are secured at their ends to the upholstery frame. The flattened spring strips may be composed of one or more helical coils of right-and lefthands turns interengaged, flattened in rollers and hardened and tempered. Fig. 9 shows the U-shaped connecting clip J embracing the upholstery spring in its U and with its arms bent over to clinch the wires G of the flattened spring strips.
