539,770. Spring mattresses, seats &c. CROWN BEDDING CO., Ltd., and WALLIS, L. S. Aug. 15, 1940, No. 13026. [Class 52 (iv)] In a spring assembly for a mattress, seat or the like wherein a number of upholstery springs are assembled in parallel rows, the end coils d, f, Fig. 2, of adjacent springs are arranged to overlap, a cranked portion b, Fig. 9, of a connecting wire a is entered between the overlapping parts of the springs, and a band or wire clip c (coiled at one end e round the coil d) is passed between the coils d, f and the cranked part b as shown in Fig. 9, and the clip end is folded around the coils as shown in Fig. 3. The cranked portions of the connecting wires a may be of rectangular or V-shaped formation and the clips c may be formed of metal strip or of wire.
