Abstract

794,571. Clamps. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. March 9, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6989/55. Class 44 [Also in Group XXXVI] A pipe clip arrangement comprises one or more helical coils of resilient wire having closely spaced turns separated only by air spaces and together surrounding the pipe and being surrounded by the pipe clip and in which the coil turns are deformed tangentially when the clip is brought into position around the pipe. As shown, a pipe 10 is secured to an aluminium casting 11 by a member 12, with the interposition of a flattened helical coil of wire 16 which is retained against movement axially of the pipe by flanges 21 on the member 12. The metal to metal contact between the member 12, wire 16 and casting 11 avoids the use of a separate bonding strip between the pipe and casting. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the wire coil is in two segments, each anchored to the ends of respective straps fitted over the pipe.
