Abstract

1,199,306. Headlamps. FAUSTO CARELLO & C. S.p.A. 20 Sept., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966], No. 42874/67. Heading F4R. A motor vehicle headlamp consists of two paraboloidal sections 2, 3,one above and one below the horizontal diametral plane M of the headlamp and each having a single-filament lamp 4, 5 associated with it. The foci of the two sections are in the same vertical plane, viz. that of the figure, the lamp 4 being situated in front of the focus of the section 2 and provided with an asymmetrical screen 6 to produce a dipped beam and the lamp 5 being situated at the focus of the section 3 to produce the main beam. The secton 3 comprises three parts, a central portion and two lateral portions of larger latus rectum but all having a common focus, Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown). The front glass 7 of the headlamp has a cylindrical part 9 into which the section 3 extends. Lamps 4 and 5 are preferably tungsten-iodine lamps.
