Abstract

119,794. McLaren, A. Feb. 12, 1918. Joints between box bottoms and bodies; lined, coated, and intpregnated boxes.-The bottom of a metal or cardboard box or container for jam &c. comprises a disk 3 having a flange 4, which is secured between outer and inner cylindrical portions 1, 2 forming the body of the box. The bottom is strengthened by a disk 5, which may have a bevelled edge. The joint between the flange 4 and the body of the box may be made tight by means of a thin rubber packing-ring. When the material from which the box is formed has been previously treated with wax, the joint may be sealed by causing the wax to melt. Specification 115,781 is referred to.
