Abstract

17,957. Jones, H. Sefton-, [Sanitary Paper Bottle Co.], Aug. 3. Joints between box bottoms and bodies lids and covers.-In paper receptacles, particularly for use in delivering milk, of the kind having tubular bodies and top and bottom hermetic closures comprising flanged disks telescoping with and locked to the ends of the bodies, the top closures are locked by means of beads formed in the bodies, or by beads and lugs. In one form, Fig. 2, the bottom closure is locked by forming a bead 4 in the tapered body and in the flange 3 of the closure. The top closure 5 rests on a bead 8 formed in the body, and is locked by cutting and turning out lugs 9 from the material of the flange 6 and the body. Tabs 7 facilitate the withdrawal of the closure. In a second form, the top closure has its flange turned outwards and is secured by a bead formed in the flange and in the body. The bottom closure comprises two flanged disks 11, 13, Fig. 4, and the body has a flange 15. The closure is locked by beads 16, 17. In a third form, Fig. 5, the top and bottom closures comprise inserted disks 27 and outer flanged disks 28, the edges of the flanges 29 being turned into beads 26 in the body. This closure without the inner disk is used as the top closure in a fourth form, the bottom closure comprising an inner flanged disk 31, Fig. 6, and an outer disk 33 having crimped peripheral parts 35, 36 enclosing the edges of the flange 32 and of the body. In a fifth form, Fig. 7, an inner ring.43 overlaps the joint between the flange 42 of the bottom closure 41 and the body, and the flange 46 of the top closure has a bead 47 interlocking with a bead 44 in the body. A bead 48 on the closure engages the upper edge of the body.
