Abstract

1,197,548. Chemical mill of aluminium and magnesium alloys. FIAT SOC PER AZIONI. March 13, 1969 [March 27, 1968], No. 13327/69. Heading C7E. Aluminium and magnesium alloys are chemically milled using an aqueous solution comprising hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids and copper sulphate, e.g. as the hydrate Cu SO 4 5H 2 O. The solution for aluminium alloys may be 70 to 80 g/l HCl, 40 to 50g/150%HF, and at least 50g/1CuSO 4 , 5H 2 O, and for magnesium alloys 16 to 32 g/l HCl, 8 to 16 g/l 50% HF, and 20 to 40 g/l Cu SO 4 5H 2 O. After milling, the parts may rinsed, degreased, rinsed, and then pickled in an aqueous solution containing 200 g/l CrO 3 and 200 g/l Ca(NO 3 ) 2 . The temperature of the solution may be 25 to 30‹C.
