Abstract
1,196,495. Recovering metals. MACDERMID Inc. June 20, 1968 [Aug. 2, 1967], No. 29414/68. Heading C7D. Unwanted nickel deposits are stripped from articles by immersion in a solution comprising nitric acid, a source of chloride ion in concentrations of 0À01 - 1À0 moles per litre and a source of iodate ion, the latter in a concentration sufficient to accelerate the stripping rate and to suppress the evolution of nitrogenous gases. Preferably the ratio of iodate ion concentration to chloride ion concentration is about 1 to 10.
