Abstract

1285151 Stabilization of ammoniacal solution of H 2 O 2 BP CHEMICALS Ltd 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 16330/70 Heading C1A H 2 O 2 in ammonical solution is stabilized in a process comprising addition thereto of metal complexes of ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid or alkaline metal salt thereof other than complexes of the noble metals defined below. The noble metals not used are Rh, Ru, Pa, Os, Ir, Pt. The ratio of ammonia to H 2 O 2 in the ammoniacal solution may be between 1 : 100 and 100 : 1 by weight preferably 1 : 5 and 5 : 1. The metal in the metal complexes of EDTA or alkaline metal salt thereof may be selected from the group Al, Zn, Ba, Mg, Ni, Li, La and Cd. The amount of the metal complex of EDTA or alkaline metal salt thereof added to the ammoniacal solution may be between 0À01% and 0À5% by weight of the total solution. The complex may be added as a solid or as a solution; preferably water. Ammonium salts of organic or inorganic acids may be added.
