1,195,968. Inductive signalling. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE CHARLEROI. 13 Feb., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 7943/69. Heading B7N. A signalling loop for transmitting information between a railway train and a central control office includes a first leg 9 running closely adjacent one rail 1 of the track and a second leg 8, which couples with a pick-up coil 11 on the train, running midway between the two rails 1 and 2. Where two axles 6, 7 are present between two cross-overs 10 in the loop, current is induced in the closed loop formed by the rails and axles due to coupling between rail 1 and loop leg 9 but this does not affect pick-up coil 11 since the field produced by the current cancels at the coil. The cross-overs 10 are counted on the train to determine the distance travelled.
