Abstract

992,885. Track circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 30, 1963 [Oct. 3, 1962], No. 38403/63. Heading B7N. An arrangement for indicating the presence of a train in part of a track circuit which is formed by an insulated section of track SV1, and alternating current supply EV1 connected across one end of the track section and a receiver RV1 connected across its other end, comprises a pair of coils C11, C12, coupled to the rails of the section intermediate its ends, which are connected to a second receiver RS1. The receiver RS1 is normally energized by current flow in the rails via the circuit RV1. On entry of a train into the section from the left the indicating device ReV1 associated with receiver RV1 releases but the supply to receiver RS1 is maintained via the leading axle of the train. When the train passes point A the current ceases in the rails adjacent the coils and a second indicating device ReS 1 coupled to receiver RS1 releases. The device ReS1 may control the closing of a level crossing gate positioned at point B.
