Abstract

956,708. Automatic train control systems. SOC. TECHNIQUE POUR L'INDUSTRIE NOUVELLE S.A. June 15, 1960 [July 17, 1959], No. 20960/60. Heading B7N. In an arrangement for transmitting signals to a rail vehicle from a point on the track, of the type in which electro- and permanent track magnets actuate receiving devices on the vehicle, two uncontrolled permanent magnets are provided which together signal a stop aspect and at least two receiving devices are provided on the vehicle which respond to the permanent magnet fields. In the event of only one signal being received a fault condition indication appears in the vehicle. One arrangement comprises, on the track permanent magnets 1, 2 and electromagnets 3, 4 controlled by track signal 5 and on the vehicle ferro-magnetic flux detectors 61-64 of which detectors 61 and 62 co-operate with the permanent magnets. The detector outputs are applied to an evaluating circuit 65 of conventional form which control a vehicle carried signal repeater and the vehicle's brakes. Other signal aspects are signalled by energizing magnets 3 and/or 4 and permanent speed restrictions may be signalled by arrangements of permanent magnets in positions 1-4.
