Abstract

The combined control system for semi- or fully-automatic operation of railway trains uses a continuous and a point-by-point transmission method so that if a fault occurs in one system, the other can be used. The signalling system uses time multiplex transmission with additional track markers before each station provided by magnets. Speed limits information is handled in a computer for automatic control of train movement. Magnets are placed at an approach signal on the stretch of track prior to a station approach signal. The distance between the magnet and the target stopping point is chosen so that a safely controlled braking is effected if required to halt at the approach signal and at the station.
