Abstract

1417048 Inductive signalling SIEMENS AG 19 April 1973 [21 April 1972 31 Jan 1973] 19199/73 Heading H4U [Also in Division B7] A line side circuit, formed of conductors L1, L2 with cross-overs, which extends alongside railway track S1, S2 for signalling between a train and a central control office SE and/or vice versa, is terminated by a pair of resistors RE11, RE12 or RE21, RE22 equal to the characteristic impedance of the circuit and the junction of the resistors is coupled by a low impedance connection to one of the rails. The arrangement is said to improve the transmission quality of the circuit. The resistor junction can be connected to the rail via a capacitor having a low impedance at the operating frequency so that a D.C. test signal can be applied to check continuity of the circuit.
