Abstract

1,193,456. Block-printing apparatus. CREDIT DESIGN Ltd. 6 Dec., 1967 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 44885/67. Heading B6J. [Also in Division H5] A cylinder blocking machine is provided with means for heating the dies on a flat bed so that a sheet fed on a positively driven impression roller is printed with colour from the heated regions of a plastics foil which is fed together with the sheet. Fig. 3 depicts the modification of a known cylinder proof press, Fig. 1 (not shown) by the adjustment of the bed to receive a heater plate 13, wedges 9 and 10 beneath the bed being adjusted by a micrometer 12A. Figs. 5-7 (not shown), depict details of the heater plate. It is stated that with the modified press little pressure is needed and the process is referred to as hot touch printing. Automatic as well as proof presses may be used and with the heater inoperative the apparatus may be used for normal relief printing, the dies being inked with liquid ink.
