Abstract
1,192,755. Xerographic plate. RANK XEROX Ltd. 8 Sept., 1967 [12 Sept., 1966; 16 Sept., 1966], No. 41088/67. Heading H1K. [Also in Division C7] A xerographic plate comprises a conductive substrate having an organic adhesive interfacial layer overlying the substrate and at least one photoconductive layer overlying the adhesive layer, said adhesive layer having been hardened after the initiation of deposition of the photoconductive layer. The adhesive layer is preferably an epoxy, silicone or phenoplast resin, or a polyester, polyurethane, polyamide or polysulphide, whilst the photoconductive layer may be selenium or a mixture of selenium and arsenic, tellurium or sulphur. The conductive substrate may be flexible and is made of brass, tin-free steel, Al, Ni, Cu, Cr, Zn or conductively coated paper, plastics or glass or conductive plastics or rubber. The substrate must be carefully cleaned to remove oxide and grease films prior to coating with the adhesive layer. The adhesive layer may be partially cured before deposition of the photoconductive layer and completely cured after deposition of the layer. Two photoconductive layers may be flash evaporated on to the adhesive layer e.g. Se-As alloy followed by Se.
