Abstract

1,192,699. Rotary cultivator. F. A. STANDEN & SONS Ltd., and P. STANDEN. 24 March, 1969 [3 April, 1968], No. 16135/68. Heading A1B. A rotary cultivator comprises a chassis 1 capable of being self-propelled, towed or attached to the lift linkage of a tractor, having a blade 3 adapted to penetrate the ground and lift and feed soil to, or towards a chassis-mounted rotary hammer mill 4 as the assembly advances, the pulverized soil then being returned to the resulting trench via a discharge shoot 8. More than one such assembly may be provided on the chassis. Both the width and depth of the blade 3 may be altered and a ridger or moulding board 9 may be included in each assembly. In an embodiment each assembly is mounted in a housing 2 provided at its lower forward end with a channel-like blade 3 having tines. The hammer mill is constituted by three transverse rods 5 carrying freely pivoted flail bars 7 and linking the arms of spacedapart spiders 6 which are rotatable about a common transverse axis and driven from the power take-off shaft of a tractor via a transmission system comprising a gearbox (11), Fig. 1 (not shown), driving a transverse shaft 12 and chains 13.
