1392193 Oscillattng-tine cultivator ROTARY HOES Ltd 24 July 1972 [24 July 1971] 34846/71 Heading A1B Tines 25 and 26 are oscillated in longitudinal vertical planes about pivot pins 27 carried by fixed plates 20 and 21, the replaceable wear plate 30 of each tine 25 and 26 always being forward of the pivot pins 27. The inner (and outer) tines 26 (and 25) are oscillated by connecting rods 32 pivoted eccentrically to plates 33 (and 36) carried on shafts 34 (and 37). Power is transmitted to the shafts 34 and 37 by gearing in a housing 13 provided with input shaft 14 coupled to a tractor powertake-off. Alternatively, a hydraulic motor drives transmission means connected to the tines. The cultivator is secured at 11 to the lower links, and by an upstanding mast (Fig. 2, not shown) to the upper link, of a tractor three-point linkage (not shown). The lower surfaces of the plates 20 and 21 contact the ground to prevent oscillations being transmitted to the cultivator frame. In another embodiment, the gear box 13 and rotatable plates 33 are set back rearwardly in the cultivator frame, so that the tines 20 and 21 are nearer to the points of attachment to the tractor. The tine 26 at one side of the cultivator is in phase with the tine 25 at the opposite side. A ground engaging depth skid or wheel is carried by a vertical post having holes by one of which it is secured in a bracket. Further tines may be carried by a frame extension of the cultivator.
