Abstract

1,192,058. Two-part couplings. BICCBURNDY Ltd. 12 Nov., 1968 [13 Nov., 1967], No. 51511/67. Heading H2E. A circuit board edge connector has contacts each comprising an elongate pillar 6 having wings 6111 and a wiring tail 6<1>, and a contact portion in the form of a separate resilient spring permanently secured, e.g. by welding, to the portion 6<11> of the pillar 6. The spring is bent to form arms 8, 9, 10 and in the region 7 where it is secured to the pillar 6, lugs 11, 12 are formed in the spring, so that when the contact is inserted in a cavity in an insulating housing the lugs 11, 12 engage behind abutments 14, 15 in the housing wall to retain the contacts therein. The wings 6<111> engage suitable slots in the sides of the channels which receive the contacts. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) lugs 11, 12 are replaced by tongues (19, 20) stamped out of region 7.
