Abstract

1,190,742. Vehicle suspension arrangements. HOYNOR Ltd., and G. HOY. 5 May, 1967 [9 May, 19661, No. 20481/66. Heading B7D. In a load carrying vehicle rear wheel suspension two pairs of wheels are longitudinally spaced on each side of the vehicle, the wheels of each pair being journalled one on each end of a stub axle centrally clamped by shackle bolts 13 to the mid-point of a leaf spring 6, 7, the springs having their outer ends resiliently located in slippers 2, 5 for longitudinal movement and their inner ends located in slippers 3, 4 formed as a single unit rotatable about a pivot 12. The slippers 2, 5 are connected to the vehicle chassis 1 by hanging brackets. Locating rods 18, 19 are pivoted between the shackle bolts and bracket 10, and the bracket associated with slipper 5. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the stub axles are clamped to the upper surface of the leaf springs by the shackle bolts, and the ends of the springs pivoted about pins which replace the slippers.
