Abstract

1,022,149. Beam axle spring suspensions. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Jan. 28, 1965 [Feb. 13, 1964], No. 6038/64. Heading B7D. [Also in Division F2] Rigid axle 10 supports frame members 22, 24 through a horizontal closed loop spring 20 of substantially elliptical form of circular, square or other cross-section. Brackets 16, 18 pivotally connecting the spring to the axle are preferably lower than the rubber bushings 27, 29, 31, 33. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the portions of spring on either side of the brackets 16, 18 are straight to accommodate a greater lock of the steerable wheels 12, 14. The axle may be located solely by spring 20 or by additional lateral and/or longitudinal links.
