Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A combined suspension and brake assembly for a push-chair having a folding frame formed of frame members which are pivotally interconnected in crossed or scissored relationship comprises, at each side of the pushchair, a suspension member 5 pivotally attached at 7 to at least one of the frame members 2 and controlled by a spring 10 arranged between portion 8 of the member 5 and the frame member 2, and a brake member formed by a tyre-engaging bar 14, which may be common to the wheels at both sides of the pushchair, carried by a support 12 pivoted at 13 on a curved extension 2a of the frame member 2 below the attachment point 7, the support 12 being pivotable under control of a spring 17 which is adapted to pass over-centre during such pivoting to move the bar 14 into and out of engagement with the tyre 15 of the wheel 16. The bar 14 may be adapted to serve as a stop limiting deflection of the portion 8 when in brake-release position.
