Abstract

1350057 Rear axle suspensions FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 8 Dec 1972 56748/72 Heading B7D A motor vehicle rear axle 16 is located longitudinally of the vehicle by arms 11 each comprising a pair of spring steel leaves 12 disposed in a vertical plane, the arms being pivotally connected at their forward ends to the vehicle body and fixed to the axle 16 so that twisting of the axle about an axis extending longitudinally of the vehicle is accommodated by twisting of the leaves 12 but rotation of the axle is resisted. A spacing member 14 fixed to the rear ends of the arms 12 supports air suspension units 15. A Panhard rod 17 locates the axle 16 transversely of the vehicle.
