Reinforced concrete; reinforced-concrete beams and floors.-A girder for reinforcing concrete in both tension and compression is made with a top flange a of considerably smaller section than the bottom flange b, and the web c is perforated to allow the concrete on both sides to amalgamate. In forming concrete beams, the metal girder is placed in position, expanded metal or similar material is clipped round the tension flange, and shuttering is placed on each side and below to receive the concrete. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 23135/02 and 1408/09.
