fiugusc flu/Mr Inventor UNITED STATES PATENT (OFFICE,
AUGUSTE HALLER, OF CASABLANCA, MOROCCO, AFRICA.
FLOORING IN ARMORED CONCRETE WITHOUT THE USE OF FALSE WORK OR MOLD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 27, 1919.
Application filed September 13, 1917. Serial No. 191,193.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Ancns'rn HALLER, citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Rue Lasalle, Casablanca, Morocco, Africa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Floorings in Armored Concrete "Without the Use of False Work or Molds, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention is a flooring in armored concrete whose construction does not require the use of any false work or mold, the various parts of the fiooring being constructed separately and in advance. Referring to the accompanying drawings which exemplify this invention, Figures 1 and 2 represent respectively a plan view of the top of the flooring and a cross section of a piece of flooring constructed according to this invention. Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross section of one beam showing a wooden strip fixed to the bottom face thereof. In this drawing it will be observed that the flooring comprises:
]..A series of beams a in armored concrete which are spaced about 50 centimeters apart. These beams are made up in ad- Vance, either on the building site or at the factory and the size of the beams and disposition of the iron work will vary according to the span of the floor and the load to be carried.
2.-A series of slabs b in cement, plaster or clay, armored or non-armored. These slabs rest upon the beams, and their weight is the maximum amount which can be handled by one man. These slabs are also made up in advance, and the iron work here employed depends upon the load to be carried; they are provided with ribs on each side in order to lessen the span of the free central part and at the same time to stiffen the slab in the longitudinal direction. On the other hand, the enlarged part of each end is designed to resist the shearing force which is exerted upon the point of support of the slab and to maintain the beams in their axis.
3.A portion 0 known as compression plate, which is poured when all the other parts are assembled in place; this plate contains a system of iron work which serves to attach the iron stirrups leading from the width is the Width of the floor portion which is admitted as subject to compression in the case of ribbed flooring. The assembled construction consists of the main beam and the compression plate, which are connected together by means of the iron stirrups so as to form a strong makeup whose height is the same as that of the finished flooring. In the present method, the beams are first laid upon the prepared walls of the building, the slabs are laid upon the beams, and the compression plates are flowed with concrete after the iron stirrups have been attached to the iron work of the plate. In this way there is obtained an armored concrete flooring without the use of false work or mold. It will also be noted that when the beams are being flowed, the process allows of placing in the bottom of the mold a wood strip cl, Fig. 3, about 12 millimeters thick and having the same width as the beam, this strip being provided with hooked points f. When the concrete of the beams has become solid, this strip remains attached to the under side of the beam and serves as a base for nailing on the lathwork of the ceiling.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A reinforced concrete flooring comprising in combination reinforced concrete beams prepared in advance and having a substantially rectangular cross section and an upper face composed of two oppositely inclined slopes, the iron work in said beams projecting upwardly through the upper face thereof, concrete slabs prepared in advance and having lateral ribs arranged below the upper surface of the slab body, said ribs having an inclined bottom adapted to rest upon one of the upper slopes of the beams and the ribs of adjacent slabs leaving between them a. nar row gap through Which the iron work of the corresponding beam may extend, an iron work arranged in the space between the bodies of two adjacent slabs and connected to the projecting part of the ironwork in In testimony whereof I have signed my the beam, 21, concrete filling poured 1n the name to thls specificatlon in the presence of said space over the said 1ron Work, Wooden two subscrlblng Witnesses.
strips arranged on the bottom face of the AUGUSTE HALLER. 5 beams and hooked points extending through Witnesses: I
the Wooden strips and projecting into the MAURICE PROAL,
beam body. PIERRE VALLIER.
