Abstract
26,786. Thomas, A. Dec. 10. Reinforced concrete; girders; columns; floors.- A truss for reinforcing concrete structures comprises a bar 1, Figs. 1 and 5, having on one or both sides a lateral flange 2, forming a flat base and slitted diagonally to receive bent sheet-metal shear members 5, which are secured by forcing-down the edges 4 of the slits. The shear members are inclined at about 45 degrees, the central portion 6, Fig. 7, lying close against the flat base of the bar. A double set of shear members may be fitted to cross each other lattice-wise. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, a third tension member 10 is passed through an eye 11 formed by slitting and expanding the flat member 6. The invention is applicable to girders, columns, floors, &c.
