Abstract

1,190,117. Window sill. DE VAC, Inc. 9 May, 1968 [5 Feb., 1968], No. 22145/68. Heading E1J. A window sill has a tubular form 10 with drain holes 42 leading from the upper portion 12, 20, 22, acting as guide for a sliding sash 24, into the interior of the tubular form 10 and a weep hole 44 of rectangular form in the lower outer face portion 26 inclined to the vertical of the part 10 with a valve element 50 of T-section having one arm of the cross bar as an elongated hook 54 which pivots in a channel 37 formed by a flange 28 of the wall portion 26 and front wall portion 18 and has its other arm weighted as at 52 to ensure that the stem of the valve element takes up its position to close the hole 44, except when the weight of water collected in the part 10 presses the valve element away from the part 26 and opens the hole outlet, and wind pressure closes the valve element, the valve member being maintained in alignment with the hole 44 by two spaced apart shoulders 56, 58 crimped to extend outwardly on each side of the valve element.
