Abstract
1,189,759. Rolling. INDUSTRIALE PIETRO MARIA CERETTI S.p.A. 22 July, 1968 [22 Sept., 1967], No. 34857/68. Heading B3M. The rolls C 1 , C 2 of a two-high rolling mill are driven from a single motor by reduction units positioned on opposite sides of the strand, different reduction ratios being provided by the units. A motor-driven pinion P 1 drives the roll C 1 through reduction gears D 1 , Q 1 , and R 1 and a coupling M 1 . It also drives the roll C 2 through a pinion P, a shaft A, gears P 2 , D 2 , Q 2 and R 2 and a coupling M 2 . By moving the couplings from the positions shown to output shafts associated with the gears Q 1 and Q 2 , the rolls can be driven at a higher speed. The axes of the pinion P, P 1 , and P 2 are fixed, but the gears D 1 and D 2 , together with the rolls, are adjustable by screws about these axes to vary the roll gap.
