1,189,446. Antifoaming agents. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Aug., 1967 [16 Aug., 1966], No. 36633/66. Heading C3P. An antifoaming agent for addition in amounts of 0À25 to 1À0 wt. per cent to aqueous dispersions of synthetic polymers, e.g. latices of butadiene/ styrene and butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymers, comprises by weight (a) 5-50 parts of a light paraffin oil; (b) 1 part of a water-insoluble metallic soap; and (c) 1-2 parts of a condensate of ethylene oxide with a fatty acid, a hydroxylated fatty acid, a fatty alcohol or a higher alkylated phenol. 20 Parts of kerosine (boiling range 180-275‹ C.) containing 1 part of a condensate of one mole of ricinoleic acid with 2À5 moles of ethylene oxide is mixed with one part of aluminium stearate.
