Abstract

1,188,524. Gas-scrubber. INCINERATOR CO. Ltd. and R. F. WEST. 2 May, 1967 [18 May, 1966], No. 22027/66. Heading B1R. Gas to be cleaned enters a gas-scrubber 1 at 3 and flows through a chamber 5 before passing through a bank of ducts 7 each having a liquid spray 15, gas and liquid are separated at the lower ends of the ducts 7, the direction of flow of the gas being reversed. The cleaned gas leaves the scrubber through a passage 9 surrounded by and in a heat-exchange relationship with gas entering the chamber 5, and the outlet 2. In a modification the gas is passed in series through two banks of ducts, the banks being laterally off-set with respect to each other. The ducts may be in the form of venturi-tubes.
