Abstract

1,225,410. Contacting gases with liquids. NORTON CO. 20 Aug., 1968 [3 Nov., 1967], No.39702/68. Heading B1R. [Also in Division F2] A sieve tray for contacting liquid passing over it with gas passing upwards through apertures in the tray comprises valve members 42 which cover the apertures and are structurally connected by a rod 48 to prevent rotation of valve 42. Hinged to rod 48 is a bar 46 with slots 52. Valve members 42 move upwards to allow gas to pass through the apertures, and may be perforated. The portions of valve members 42 which are structurally connected by rod 48 face in the same direction into the direction of flow of the liquid shown by arrows 54.
